PARU DESHPANDE, IMEC
VP LIFE SCIENCES & IMAGING DEPARTMENT

Paru Deshpande completed his PhD at Princeton University in the area of polymer self-assembly for lithography. After completing his studies, he joined BioNano Genomics, a life sciences startup company, as the first employee. During his 7 years at BioNano Genomics, he led projects in single molecule DNA detection and assay development. In 2011 he took on the role of Director of Instrument Development and also managed early product testing at customer sites. In June 2012, he joined imec and is now Vice President, leading the department of Life Sciences & Imaging.

Presentation abstract

FROM IN-SILICO TO IN-VIVO: SILICON SOLUTIONS FOR LIFE SCIENCES

Technology for healthcare solutions has advanced tremendously in recent years and silicon technology in particular has played a key role in driving some of these advances. In this presentation, I will discuss how imec is supporting partners through the use of novel silicon devices for applications in research, diagnostics and therapeutics. We see the adoption of silicon solutions as being a critical element in the continued effort to bring the most advanced healthcare to everyone in the world in a cost effective manner.
