KINAM KIM, SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS
PRESIDENT SEMICONDUCTOR BUSINESS

Dr. Kinam Kim is President of Semiconductor Business in Samsung Electronics. As Head of Semiconductor Business, Dr. Kim oversees all activities related to the Memory and  System LSI Business units as well as Samsung Semiconductor R&D Center.

Under Dr. Kim's leadership, Samsung Memory continues to maintain its top market position and technology leadership with first-to-market products in DRAM, NAND Flash and SSD (Solid State Drive) for more than a decade. Samsung System LSI Business, on the other hand, is a worldwide leader in Non-Memory IC products such as AP (Application Processor), Modem chipsets, CMOS Image Sensors and Display Driver ICs as well as advanced logic process for its Foundry business.

Dr. Kim has been with Samsung Electronics for more than 35 years. Prior to his current role, he served as CEO and President of Samsung Display, and President of SAIT (Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology) and also CTO of Samsung.

He is a foreign member of the US National Academy of Engineering and an IEEE Fellow.

A NEW ERA OF SEMICONDUCTOR: BEYOND NANO TO DRIVE THE FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

Today we are on the brink of the Fourth Industrial Revolution that is expected to fundamentally change the way we live, work and communicate.

Building on the third, the Fourth Industrial Revolution will offer significant growth opportunities for the Semiconductor industry as transformations propagate across different markets.

Products and services in the Fourth Industrial Revolution will be built on unprecedented computing capability, gigantic storage capacity and intelligent algorithms while minimizing power consumption and footprint.  

We believe that Semiconductors will continuously evolve to address many daunting challenges through innovations in core technologies such as process, equipment, materials and design.

In this presentation, we will share our perspective on great opportunities and challenges for Semiconductor in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.
