Classic Movies in High Dynamic Range

Watching a classic movie that you loved when you were a child can bring back fond memories. Unfortunately, even if the storyline is timeless, TV technology is not. Our modern TV sets are larger, digital and offer higher resolution. Recently, TVs have also started to support a higher dynamic range (HDR), meaning that brighter and darker shades can be rendered much more clearly, mimicking the natural luminance perception of the human eye. And Better technology comes with higher expectations: we are used to high video quality and have come to take it for granted – even when watching older movies or reruns of tv-series; content that was never created for modern TV sets. Thus, to meet viewers’ increased expectations, classic content also needs to be converted to HDR.
