CONFERENCE DINNER @ THE ANTWERP ZOO
MARBLE HALL - FLAMINGO SQUARE - VERLAT ROOM - WINTER GARDEN

The walking conference dinner will be served at the exotic green oasis in the middle of Antwerp's metropole: the Antwerp Zoo's complex of Marble Hall, Verlat Room, Winter Garden and adjacent Flamingo Square,  all located in the same building complex as the conference location.

At the Flamingo Square a colony of Cuban flamingos will greet you. The 32 Cuban flamingos add colour to the main square of the ZOO. They have been welcoming visitors since the very beginning, and are therefore iconic to Antwerp ZOO. As a tribute to these gracious birds, the Welcome Square is officially named Flamingo Square. The roof of the new Welcome building offers breath-taking views over the best-preserved 19th century garden in Europe.

The Verlat Room was named after the 19th century Antwerp paintor Michel Marie Charles Verlat. His large canvases decorate the monumental walls, among which some beautiful animal scenes. The room is dominated by a majestic staircase. Floors, walls and ceilings are beautifully decorated with white and pink marble and breathe an aristocratic atmosphere.

The impressive high green house, the Winter Garden, a late 19th-century architectonic masterpiece of steel and glass, immediately lift you up you to another era in a different location. Lianes, impressive palm trees, wild orchids, exotic colors and odors leave you with a complete tropical feeling. Here, you will also feel the magic of its Butterfly Garden, as butterflies flutter around it.

When entering the Marble Hall, the historical heart of the complex, you will experience a special perception of space. Tall pillars, built up out of massive blocks of pink marble, rest on bronze pedestals. They literally carry the high ceiling in pure art nouveau style, a unique combination of steal and oak. Either high windows allow a bunch of light to peer inside or red velvet curtains create an intimate atmosphere. Here you sense the Belle Epoque, just like the royal gala grandor from previous times. This is undoubtedly one of the architectonic highlights of Belgian art nouveau.
